What Watch Strap Size Do I Need?

Lug width, strap length, taper - the three numbers that decide whether a strap fits your wrist or just your watch.

What Watch Strap Size Do I Need?

Strap size is three numbers, not one. Lug width gets the watch on. Length and taper decide whether it sits well.

Lug width

Measured between the lugs in millimetres. Almost always an even number - 18, 20, 22, 24. See our dedicated guide on how to measure it.

Strap length

Straps come in two pieces: long side (with the buckle holes) and short side (with the buckle). Standard adult length is 75/115mm or 80/120mm. Smaller wrists (under 6.5" / 16.5cm) should look for 70/110. Larger wrists (over 8" / 20.5cm) want 85/125 or XL.

Taper

A 20mm strap that tapers to 16mm at the buckle reads as more elegant. A parallel-sided 20mm strap (also 20mm at the buckle) reads as more military or sporting. Our Classic and Crazy Horse straps taper; our nato and rally styles run parallel.
