My wife and I both lost our jobs within two weeks of each other. Two young kids at home, rent to pay, and suddenly nothing coming in. It happened so fast we barely had time to understand what was hitting us, and we're still in the thick of it now.
Penwortham Foodbank stepped in without judgement. They're giving us food parcels, essentials, and, more than anything, the dignity of knowing our kids are fed. Without them, honestly, I don't know how we'd be getting through this.
Run almost entirely by volunteers and powered by local donations, the foodbank quietly supports hundreds of families across Penwortham, Lostock Hall and the surrounding villages every single month. They run a community pantry, hot meals, school holiday food packs and emergency parcels, whatever the family in front of them needs that day.
The watch community carried us too. Collectors I'd only ever spoken to on Instagram, Facebook and in WhatsApp groups checked in, sent work my way, bought straps, and kept the lights on while we rebuilt. DVIL exists today because of those people. So every strap that leaves the workshop now carries a little of that forward.
