Suede: Soft, Warm and Quietly Continental
Brushed napped leather - the strap that adds texture to the wrist without shouting for attention.

Suede is the underside of the hide, brushed up into a soft nap. It feels closer to fabric than to leather, sits warmer on the wrist in winter, and pairs beautifully with both casual and tailored looks. Italian-tanned suede in particular reads as quietly continental.
Why it works
- Texture gives depth without colour or shine
- Lighter and more breathable than full-grain calf
- Pairs with knitwear, denim and unstructured tailoring
- Available in saturated, dust-finished colours unique to napped leather
Best paired with
Vintage-style cases, rally and racing watches, Italian-cased dress watches. Caramel suede with cream stitching on a 38mm three-hander is a perennial autumn favourite.
Care in one line
Keep it dry, brush gently with a soft suede brush, and protect with a silicone-free suede spray when new.
